An Ideal Situation

The central Valais enjoys a dry and very sunny microclimate. In winter, skiing enthusiasts will find an enormous number of slopes, while summer offers numerous hiking routes full of surprises for walkers of all abilities.

Besides of being the asparagus capital of the Valais, vines are cultivated here to make wines that regularly win prizes for excellence throughout Europe. The vineyards can be visited and wines tasted; all you have to do is stroll from wine cellar to wine cellar.

Saillon boasts the oldest mediaeval fortress in Switzerland, which is celebrated every four years with a splendid festival. This also perpetuates the memory of Farinet, its counterfeiter with the heart of gold.

From Saillon, you can explore the banks of the Rhône towards Sion or Martigny, enjoying long walks or bicycle rides through the countryside.

To obtain information on current events and regional tourist activities, the Tourist Office of Saillon advises you and provides you with all the information necessary to discover our region. The office is located in the complex of the Baths of Saillon (in front of the bar Le Farinet).

The Hôtel des Bains de Saillon is situated in a strategic position close (less than 50 km) to the major ski resorts of the Valais – the 4 Vallées (Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon), Champéry, Crans-Montana – and the Canton of Vaud: Les Diablerets and Villars.

What’s more, the region offers a large number of signposted cross-country skiing routes, curling halls and skating rinks.
